Yahoo 360 beats out Windows Live Spaces because with Yahoo you get your own blog page, instead of your blog posts being listed on your personal page. You can choose from a variety of templates, images load in a flash and it is easy to use.
This is the one of the best blog services we found for personal use. Yahoo offers numerous free tools, a clean layout and they do not put ads on your blog page. They also make it easy for you to connect to your friends and family.
However, you do not get a unique blog address and the only tracking information they offer is page views and comments.
Yahoo offers templates and supports some HTML and CSS tags and attributes. However, you can only add images in jpeg format. You can add an avatar, link to your IM and email, post a blog roll, add/read comments and more. They even have a calendar and visitors can click on a day and link to blog entries for that day.
The posting interface is simple, although you can add images it does not let you choose where you want the image to be or what size. It also does not have a spell checker. But you can add links and smileys and you can adjust font size and color as well as create lists and indent text. Yahoo also has a poll feature, so you can create fun (or serious) polls for your friends or for the general public.
Upon your request, Yahoo can make your blog available to the general public and RSS feed subscriptions. You can keep track of your number of visitors, receive comments and readers can save a permalink. But they do not offer statistics or referrer information.
This service is incredibly easy to use. Beginning bloggers or novice computer users should have no problem setting up an account and posting a blog.
Like most free services, they do not offer one–on–one technical support but they do post helpful FAQs and searchable topics. They also host a unique help tool called “Yahoo Answers,” which is a list of questions and answers posted by Yahoo users. Those that ask a question can pick the best answer for posting and rate the response as well.
This is a great site for beginners or for those that are already Yahoo users. Although they don’t offer advanced tools, with a little creativity many people have created attractive and interactive blogs with Yahoo. Besides, it is just a fun service to use.
